Pizza Dough Recipe

This basic pizza dough is super versatile. I use it for both thin crust and thick crust pizzas.
Servings 3 12 inch thin crust pizzas

Ingredients

  • 4 tsp dry yeast
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 10-12 cups white flour
  • Corn meal and olive oil This is for putting your pizza dough onto the pans.

Instructions

  • Combine yeast, water, sugar, salt and olive oil. Let sit 5 min until the mixture becomes foamy. This indicates that your yeast is active.
  • Add 6 cups of flour to the liquid mixture. Combine and let sit 5 min.
  • Knead dough with spoon, or dough hook. Gradually add in up to 6 more cups of flour to make a dough that doesn't stick to your hands, but is smooth and soft.
  • Grease your bowl and cover with a warm, wet tea towel. Let rise until doubled (approximately 1- 1.5 hours).
  • Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle corn meal over pizza pans. Divide dough evenly and place in the middle of the pans. Push and flatten dough to the edges of the pans. Let rest 5 min before adding toppings.
