- You want a course that teaches you how to do it all!
You have a milk source, you have been experimenting with some fresh dairy products, but taking the leap into aged cheeses has you wondering if you can do it?!
Well friends, let me tell you this.... 8 years ago, I was in the exact same boat as you!
It was 2014, I was a young mom, homesteader, rancher and nurse. I was busy, but I had no idea what was to come the day my husband pulled in the yard and unloaded a milk cow.
As with any new milk cow owner, the learning curve was steep, there were tears and spilled milk, but at the same time, the reward was great. I loved owning a milk cow and I wanted to learn the best way to preserve my milk.
Cheesemaking is the worlds oldest form of preserving milk!
I began cheesemaking right away and to be honest, it was overwhelming. I knew no one else who made cheese and I felt alone. Even things like ordering ingredients and figuring out what supplies I needed seemed confusing. There was lots of information available via the internet and books, but I came to find that none of it really served me as a Homestead Cheesemaker. Most of the information available was directed at commercial cheesemakers or people who just wanted to learn a little here and there as a hobby. I wanted to learn not only how to make cheese, but how to fit cheesemaking into my life!
It was a journey to say the least. I made a lot of mistakes, felt confused a lot, and nearly gave up more than once. The entire time, I kept thinking to myself, how had this been done 200 years ago?
How had my Great Great Grandma rocked a baby, milked a cow, grew a garden, made three meals a day, and still fit cheesemaking into her lifestyle? I had no doubt in my mind, that a lot of what she would have done, would have been learned from her mother, or her grandma. She would have grown up with cheesemaking entwined into her daily life.
Part of the beauty of homestead cheesemaking, is that it is weaved into daily life on a homestead.
The creation of this course was done as just that, intertwined into my daily life. Most videos in the course, you will find me rocking a baby, or multitasking, but I believe that is part of the beauty of this course. As our grandmothers 200 years ago would have watched their mother fit cheesemaking into daily life, I am doing the same. Teaching the art of homestead cheesemaking directly and indirectly.
Since launching in 2021, this course has helped over 1000 homesteaders turn their milk into cheese!
