Hi I'm Robyn! The creator behind The Milkmaid Society!
I became a Milkmaid nearly 10 years ago. A baby strapped to my back, crouched below a very large cow, I learned everything the hard way. Learning to be a milkmaid and a cheesemaker came simultaneously for me. Hand and hand I learned to milk my cow and turn that milk into cheese.
There were bumps along the road, things I didn’t anticipate, problems I felt helpless to solve.
Despite all of the struggles, I fell in love with what I was doing.
Nothing brought me more joy than that morning on the milking stool, or that wheel of cheese pulled from the press.
Nothing made me smile more than to watch my baby, with relish and unreserved excitement, gulp a glass of cold fresh raw milk.
Nothing made me feel more connected than to sit on my front step and watch my cow graze on grassy land that would in only a few hours, become warm milk in my bucket.
What I soon came to realize, was that being a Milkmaid is a lifestyle.
It dictates important things like what you do, when you can do it, what you eat, how you feel and how you view the world. It is mornings in the barn and meals made from food you have procured yourself. It is hours spent at cheese pots and hungry bellies filled with food from your own land. It is a feeling of connection with the land and you animal.
Being a Milkmaid encompassed so many things that I had yearned for for so long, but as I leaned into this lifestyle, I started to feel a disconnection. Even though I had no desire to live any other life, I felt lonely.
I longed for connection with other Milkmaids. And so the Milkmaid Society was born.

Over the years I have been amazed at how much our grocery bill has been reduced because of our dairy cow. We save hundreds of dollars each month on groceries. Despite the savings at the grocery till, owning a dairy animal can be expensive. Whether you are looking at feed, infrastructure or vet costs, it can all add up to a lot. That is why I try my hardest to use as much dairy as I can in my cooking.
It is one thing to grow your own food, its another entirely to eat the food you grow.

If I buy now, will the price stay the same every month?
Registration only opens for a short time every season. Annual memberships are the most cost effective for members, as they provide a discount of 2 months.
I have joined! How do I get in?
Im still not sure if the Milkmaid Society is right for me?
Read what others had to say...
Still not sure if the Milkmaid Society is the right choice for you? Shoot me an email at cheesefromscratch@outlook.com. I would love to chat more about where you are at in your milkmaid journey, or even jump on a zoom or phone chat to make sure that this is really the right direction for you.
I don't use Facebook, is there any other way for me to group chat with the other members?
Though the Facebook group is awesome (currently there are about 200 members in the exclusive Facebook group) and it is where a lot of questions are answered and amazing conversations are had, it is not the only way to connect with other members. The milkmaid society map is a great way to connect with other members. It offers an option to leave a email address so that you can make real life connections with milkmaids in your area.
Another awesome feature, that isn’t even my own, is the VIP instagram chat. Over the years the ladies in the VIP zoom meetings have come to know each other and they came together to create an exclusive chat group. I run it under my instagram, but they are the ones that answer each others questions, and chat. I pop in every once in awhile to say hi (because these ladies have become amazing friends of mine over the years) but it is mostly just a fun way to connect with other milkmaids.
Will my subscription automatically renew?
Can I get a refund?
I'm still not sure!
Shoot me an email at cheesefromscratch@outlook.com. Though I run an online Digital business, Im still a small town girl at heart. Most of my friends and neighbours run physical brick and mortar businesses and I have always treated Cheese From Scratch the same way. If you have a questions, its no different than you walking into my store and asking. I want to make sure the Milkmaid Society is really the right choice for you. Not in a sales call way, but in a real “lets sit down and see where you are at”, way. I would love to either chat over email or set up a zoom or phone call.
