In this course you will learn the basics of making pressed, aged cheeses. You will learn how to incorporate milking a cow, making cheese and caring for your cheeses into your daily life.

This course is directed towards participants who are, or want to be, milking a cow, but the skills and knowledge learned in this course, may be used by anyone who wishes to make cheese.

Though the cheesemaking in this course is based on facts and science, it is also heavily based on common sense, and learning how to incorporate cheesemaking into your lifestyle. This course was created with real life in mind, and as such, it was created amongst my real life. A life of daily dairy processing, mothering, and homesteading. Throughout the course, you will find that I am often not alone, a baby on my hip, a toddler at my toes, and all alongside an abundance of cheese information. Information directed at teaching you, how to make cheese, but also how to fit cheesemaking into your daily life.

This course starts with an in-depth look at the ingredients used for cheesemaking, equipment you will need, the general steps and stages of cheesemaking, comprehensive troubleshooting, and finally, I will walk you through making 3 different types of pressed aged cheeses, so that you may apply the skills you have learned in the course, to a real life setting.

The information in this course is presented in both written and video form, and as a course participant you will have 1 year of access to all course materials. This means access to approximately 6 hours of video content, a comprehensive course workbook (that you can print out), and access to a private online feed, where you may converse with other students and your instructor, in a social media type setting. This describes the most basic plan, and if you feel you would benefit from a more live learning experience, please see bellow for information on upgrade plans.

The Basic Plan provides 1 year access to Homestead Cheesemaking 101. Course participants will also gain access to a social feed where they may share, talk and learn from other course participants and your instructor. Hi, there! I am a Mom to three sweet children, a Rancher, a Homesteader and a Milkmaid. I have been milking a cow and making cheese in my kitchen since 2014. Homestead cheesemaking is something that is dear to my heart. 200 years ago your mother, grandmother, or aunt may have taught you to make cheese; these days it is pretty rare to actually know someone in person who makes cheese. I teach homesteaders how to turn their milk into cheese, and as a life long learner, I am always seeking to listen and learn from other people perspectives and experiences. I am very passionate about traditional skills, homegrown food, and living a slower, more intentional life.
